From Surviving to Leading

Brenda Muddle-Joey Taylor- YB Nakota

This powerful and deeply human workshop brings together three voices shaped by lived experience, adversity, and transformation. Through raw storytelling and guided reflection, the facilitators share their journeys from childhood trauma, gang involvement, incarceration, and mental health struggles to lives grounded in purpose, family, culture, and community leadership.  Together, they explore the realities of intergenerational trauma, the impact of vicarious trauma, and the difficult road of accountability and healing. This workshop does not shy away from the truth—but instead offers hope, connection, and practical reflection. Participants will be invited to examine their own journeys, challenge internal narratives, and begin to shift from surviving to leading in their own lives and communities.
